Hey curious person
Before I went on holiday, I sent an email to share my current state of play. This wasn't just about my classes and events. It was also about my personal journey with yoga. It was a wholesome experience so here's a copy of that email if you missed it. I had such wonderful responses from regulars that inspired me massively.

Hello
How are you? How is August treating you?
I’m glad to say I am going on a holiday. It is needed and I mean that from the bottom of my weary soul. I plan for August to be a slow month that allows me to catch up. That’s not been the case this year. I feel like the to-do list has been forever growing and my time has been consistently limited. Our weekly classes act as an anchor to the realities of how quickly my time passes. I often think “how is it our Wednesday class again?”. I think this is one of the reasons I feel that I need a holiday so much. The thought of taking some time to read, rest and drink too much coffee is exactly what I need right now.
I will be returning to my normal teaching schedule on Monday 19th August. You can always find my most up-to-date schedule on my classes page. If you’ve been thinking about joining a class then this might be your sign to have a look. People love to get back to routine in September so plan ahead. I typically see an increase in attendance so much that I have personally renamed September to second January.
I have parked Friday Night Yoga Nidra for a couple of months. There have been some temporary adjustments to my use of the car park at Northampton School for Boys due to some building work. As I plan for autumn, I feel a long, dark walk back to Billing Road wouldn’t be conducive to the restful nature of the practice. I hope our next gathering can be a reunion as we approach the end of the year. I will notify you closer to the time but the date I’ve pencilled in is Friday 22nd November. You can book this now, if you want to secure the date.
Although I declare to do nothing on a holiday, the reality is that creativity and inspiration kicks in once I've had a couple of days to settle. My request to you, if you would do me the honour, is to reply to this email to plant a seed in my mind with anything you would like to explore in our classes over the coming months. I'm curious to see what ideas will be born during my time in the sun.
I know this feels like I am stating the obvious but I really do love yoga. However, teaching yoga is a business (whether I like that or not) and there have parts that have been sapping my joy. My declaration for 2024 is to practise what I preach so I'm going to start reducing some of the more taxing parts.
I have signed myself up for a new course in October. It runs in a format I've not experienced before. Sessions happened on a weekday evening, through Zoom, with recordings available for those that cannot attend. This has been a blessing as I've not had to change my schedule to complete this training.
I was drawn to this course because, although it is a teacher training, it promises a lot of self enquiry. That's just what I need right now. My body is not the same as it once was. I feel tired all the time. I hope this course offers me time to embrace a new chapter, reconnect with present day Sam and find new ways to serve myself in my busy little life.
Well, I have more to say. There's always more to say. However, I'm now sat on the plane so it's time to put the phone down and pick up my first holiday read (it's Interview with the Vampire, if you're curious).
I will see you soon
Sam
